Eurytoma erythrinae Gates & Delvare

(Life: Kingdom: Metazoa (animals); Phylum: Arthropoda; Class: Hexapoda; Order: Hymenoptera; Superfamily: Chalcidoidea; Family: Eurytomidae; Genus: Eurytoma)

Eurytoma erythrinae Gates & Delvare, 2008.

Distribution Afrotropical region: Tanzania, Ghana, and South Africa.
Biology Probably a parasitoid of one or more of the gall forming eulophid wasps infesting leaves, petioles and twigs of Coral trees (Erythrina sp., Fabaceae). Three described species of Aprostocetus and 4 described species of Quadrastichus are associated with Erythrina galls (Prinsloo & Kelly 2009). Both Aprostocetus exertus and Eurytoma erythrinae have the potential to act as biocontrol agents of the Erythina Gall Wasp Quadrastichus erythrinae, which is rapidly spreading around the world (La Salle et al. 2009).
