Resourceful harvesters,
Anoplolepis steingroeveri
ants carrying a fynbos seed (Mimetes
cuculatus) back to
their nest where they will feed on the fat rich fleshy body attached
to the end of the seed. The seed itself is left uneaten and
protected underground from predation.
