Vespa orientalis Linnaeus, 1771

Distribution

Afrotropical region: Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Mali, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Yemen. Introduced into Madagascar. Also widespread in Palaearctic and Oriental regions.

Biology

Social, constructing concealed communal paper nests often under the ground.
