The bejewelled rear-end of the Splendid Cuckoo wasp (Chrysis splendens). The egg-laying apparatus is just visible. She can fold her abdomen forwards underneath her body protecting her more vulnerable underside with her hard cuticle against stings from the bees and wasps whose nests she is parasitizing.
