Distribution

Afrotropical region: Kenya, Yemen. Also Holarctic and Oriental regions.

Biology

Parasitoids of larva of Syrphidae (Diptera). Where known, all aspicerines (including Melanips; Buffington et al., 2007) are parasitoids of Diptera that are predaceous on Aphididae (Ronquist, 1999; Buffington & van Noort, 2009; Ros-Farré & Pujade-Villar, 2011; Buffington et al.,  2012).
