Bembex afra Handlirsch, 1893. Holotype male in Stuttgart. Type locality: no specific locality, Cape Province, South Africa.

Distribution

South Africa.

Biology

Females excavate solitary burrows in sandy soil. Nests are provisioned with flies (Calliphoridae, Muscidae, Syrphidae, Sarcophagidae, Tachinidae among various other families).
