Diversity

16 extant genera represented by 182 species, and 8 extinct genera:

Cenocimbex Nel, 2004

Eopachylosticta Malaise, 1945

Leptostigma Archibald & Rasnitsyn, 2023

Phenacoperga Cockerell, 1908

Pseudocimbex Rohwer, 1908

Phytophagous. Larvae of Cimbicinae feed mainly on trees, larvae of the three other subfamilies feed mainly on shrubs and herbs. Biology of Pachylostictinae is poorly known. Larvae occur at low density, feeding externally and construct cocoons either on the foodplant or in the soil.
