The development of bioinformatics pages (accessible through the checklist) for South African ichneumonid species was funded by SABIF (South African Biodiversity Information Facility) through the South African National Research Foundation and by an International Science Liaison research grant (GUN 2068865) received from the National Research Foundation (South Africa) in conjunction with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Five hundred and seventeen species of an estimated total richness of 3230 species have been recorded from South Africa, i.e. only 16% of the species are known to science.
