Seeking
refreshment, a long-tongued bee (Amegellia atrocincta) imbibes water from
a perennial stream edge in the Karoo National Park, South Africa.
A solitary nester, she will regurgitate the water to soften clay at her nesting site
allowing her to excavate a burrow, which she will provision with a
mixture of pollen and nectar for her larvae to feed on.
